" Adiele is a happy young lady. An embodiment of success. Everyone loves her. But hiding behind her success and disposition was a bitter past that almost became her fate. Adiele's struggle began the day her father died in a car accident. She was seven years old. She was forced to become a woman and take care of her two younger brothers. Despite the young age, Adiele remembers the moment in detail.
At age nine, her mother gave her out for marriage to a man old enough to be her father. According to her mother, she is their meal ticket and the hope of her brothers getting an education. She became the sacrificial lamb. At age eleven she had VVF; Vesicovaginal fistula (VVF). This is an unusual opening between the bladder and the vagina that results in continual and lasting urinary incontinence.
The silence was a comfort, so matters got worse. She couldn't tell anyone of her struggles. Her brother's education was more important to her. Adiele has a fighting spirit and undying faith in God. Her dedication to church work caught the attention of the parish priest where she fellowships with her fatherly husband.
He encouraged the husband to allow her to get an education. The husband agreed with many agitations and the young aspiring human rights activist was on her way to stardom.
By this point in her life, Adiele was broken and fragile. She had low self-esteem, skinny, and weary. And when she began schooling, she struggled with her identity and grades. She repeated a class twice. She was always the odd one in class. The deep sense of not fitting in made her less outspoken. Adiele longed for a normal life, she prayed to be with her siblings and be a teenager just like her peers. Her marital status was a perfect reminder that she isn't normal like her peers.
Compassion As Passion
Adiele struggled with so much but her compassionate personality drew people close to her. She took the lemons life threw at her and made lemonades. Compassion became her passion. She believed so much in God and would talk about his love for anyone who cares to listen. Adiele never sees impossibilities. Where others couldn't go, she would. And when she found Jesus Christ, everything changed. Her faith increased.
When she got into college, everything seemed alright until she had an accident. She was in a coma for three months. The doctors told her husband and her family to prepare for her burial. Her fate was sealed. The morning the doctors were to pull the plug, Adiele woke up. The joy was cut short when she's told she couldn't walk.
The doctor made it clear it was going to take a miracle for her to walk again. One year later, when the doctors saw her, they couldn't help but say, "there is no medical explanation for this." Indeed there was none. It was a miracle and only God can do that. Adiele's crazy faith changed her fate.
Today, Adiele is a volunteer and advocate for girl child education in Nigeria. She shares her testimony in the hopes of motivating others to believe that faith can change their fate."
We all commonly use the word faith every day, to the extent we don't know if it works or not. Faith works. Faith isn't rocket science. It's confidence in what we hope for and the assurance that the Lord is working, even though we cannot see it. Faith understands that no matter what the condition, in our lives or someone else’s, that God is working behind the scene.
Faith is a gift from God. It's a unique way to please God. It doesn't require much work from you, all you need to do is believe and God will take care of the rest. God uses faith to bring salvation to his people. You can strengthen your faith by studying the scriptures, and heeding to the gospel. The more you engage yourself in truth, the more your faith grows.
Your faith can change your fate if it comes from a new heart. You can't live in doubt, have a negative mindset, and except your faith to work for you. It doesn't work that way.
Faith changes everything including fate. Gear up your faith today and watch it change your fate!
