Reversing Desertification Through A Culture Of Prevention In Our World

Desertification has become a major issue that needs urgent attention in our world today. Desertification is the result of less rainfall. It is occurring in large regions of the world where the atmospheric climate is unpredictable due to a shortage of rainfall.

One of the means deployed by the Millennium Development Goals to remove poverty is desertification. A growing understanding of the rapid causes of dryland is important to ending poverty, and desertification.

One of the practical ways of reversing desertification is through a culture of prevention. Having a culture of prevention applied to the various aspects of our life is essential. It is a healthy measure that eliminates future disasters from happening. It also enables individuals to integrate the appropriate behavior into all their activities.

The culture of prevention plays a major role in reversing desertification. Desertification is fast sweeping across our world. Growing research shows that the world's deserts are growing vast. Scientists have reported that the Sahara Desert; the largest desert in the world is expanding more than it was 100 years ago. It is reported that climate change, overgrazing by too several livestock is the major cause.

The researchers' reports point to the fact that the Sahara's size increase is as a result of climate peculiarities in sea surfaces. These changes affect soil temperatures. This is why having a culture of prevention is essential to protecting drylands when desertification beginnings.

Building on a culture of prevention is a long term investment. It is active, and it will improve environmental sustainability. It requires a change in government and people's attitudes for visible results to be seen.

Here are a few practical preventive cultures that can help reverse desertification

.  Protecting the vegetative cover is a preventive culture. The use of dry or wet grasses can be used in protecting the newly planted trees. It can be used as a primary tool for soil conservation against wind and water erosion. Trees also play a crucial part in the water cycle, grounding the water in their roots and releasing it into the atmosphere.

. To have profitable cycling of nutrients within the agricultural systems, grazing and farming must be done in a favorable atmosphere. Care needs to be done to avoid overgrazing.
Prevention of desertification can easily be obtained with trace mineral supplements obtained from farming.

. Merging land and water administration. This would protect the soils from possible erosions. Terrible soil erosion challenges exist as a result of human-related activities. Water and land administration is an essential ingredient in controlling soil erosion. Controlling erosion is an important connection in any plan to improve water quality.

. Dryland opportunity is fast becoming the standard for ecosystem development. It is helping to reduce poverty in the world. And support food security. Dryland opportunities will create economic openings in urban centers. Thereby reversing desertification from growing rapidly. The quick response to climate change is showcasing the ability of drylands to impact climate change.

. As a preventive measure, local communities should be given adequate power to manage dryland resources internally. This would effectively reduce desertification in the long run.

On a large scale, the population of humans in dryland have a poorer quality of life. They live in poverty, thus making the deserts vulnerable to further exploitation. Attention should be given to poor dryland countries. Failure to do this means failure for the global community to reverse desertification.

Land users should be use mineral fertilizers, and be given access to new market opportunities. They should be allowed to use new technologies and given time to adapt to them.

Changing drylands is comparable to changing the world, including reversing desertification.
