Women move mountains is the suggested theme for 2022
Mountains are among the most fascinating earth science options our planet offers. Year of Mountains, and December 11, 2003, was designated as International Mountain Day. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) coordinates the annual celebration of the day to foster greater awareness of mountain issues.
Mountains house 15% of the world's population and are home to roughly half of the world's biodiversity hotspots. They supply a fresh way of life to half of humanity. Unfortunately, mountains are under threat from climate change and overexploitation.
