‘The Donald’ Facing Indictment in Court

Spring has not blossomed well for the former President of the United States and things are turning for the worse by the day. Donald Trump, according to the NDTV, will be “formally charged, finger-printed and have a mug shot taken” and is on his way to becoming the first (ex) president to be criminally charged. The charge included handing over “hush money” to former pornstar Stormy Daniels during a brief encounter they had back in 2006. Trump and Daniels had met back in 2006, when the former president was running his show, “ Celebrity Apprentice.” (thelist.com) According to The List, “Daniels was already a popular adult film star at the time, [2006] and Trump, who was married to Melania Trump, was enjoying his fame from helming "Celebrity Apprentice."

He invited her to his room for dinner, and the two wound up having sex for the first and only time.” (thelist.com) It is no secret that Donald Trump has grown accustomed to the backlash he has received from every single major news source in the world. Nobody has received this kind of treatment, probably in the history of politics and media. However, criminal charges are a completely different ball game.

On April 4th, Trump is expected to go into the Manhattan grand jury to face a total of 34 counts of falsifying business records including the $130,000 in “hush money” given to Daniels during the 2016 presidential election. Trump rebutted the charges by denying all 34 counts and denies any relationship to Ms. Daniels. Politico, the top news providers in all thing’s politics, quoted Trump by stating, “The only crime that I have committed is to fearlessly defend our nation from those who seek to destroy it.” Donald Trump’s arrest has raised a lot of questions about what it would entail for the coming 2024 presidential election. The good news for Trump would be that an indictment cannot prevent a candidate from running for presidency. But that might be the only silver lining out this situation. Trump’s legacy has been severely trampled by the prosecution.

During the entirety of his time in office, Trump had been caricatured as an embarrassment to the American political system. Major news networks, social media, newspaper prints were the centerpieces of all the jokes and critiques of the former President’s antics. There is no denying that Donald Trump has made a lot of mistkaes during his presidency. Despite the momentous backlash that he received throughout his time in the Oval Office, the recent arrest would take the metaphorical cake. According to Trump, this was an attempt by his political enemies to interfere with the 2024 election. Politico recited a statement that Trump made during a speech where he proclaimed, “The Democrats have lied, cheated and stolen in their obsession with trying to ‘Get Trump,’ but now they’ve done the unthinkable — indicting a completely innocent person in an act of blatant Election Interference.”(politico.com)

The conviction to imply a conspiracy from his opposing political party is not something new for Trump. During the infamous January 6th incident that took place at the Capitol, Trump came out stating that it was a plot formed to wreck his reputation. Figuring out who incited the riots was of huge debate but there was no denying the huge stain that it had left on President Trump’s image. Donald Trump is truly in deep trouble this time and legal issues will be a big part of his year. How will this impact the 2024 election? It is too soon to tell. But there is no denying that things have taken precedent before and after Trump left office. With an indictment like this, America truly does stand out as a unique country. Love him or hate him, there is no denying that Trump had amplified its uniqueness.

Donald Trump has become the most controversial political figure in US history. There has been no other president who has had as much political or cultural pushback as he. The Manhattan grand jury will need to do a solid job at checking if "The Donald" had really commited the crimes or if it just a "conspiracy" set forth by the Democrats.

The truth is only revealed with the passage of time.

Now this bares the question from earlier... "What will this entail for the 2024 election?"

Only time will tell...
