12th Fail Breaks Record of Oppenheimer And Barbie In IMDB Ratings

The year 2023 gave back-to-back blockbuster movies. In the meantime, Vidu Vinod Chopra's film 12th Fail reached the highest IMDB rate, breaking the record of worldwide famous movies Oppenheimer and Barbie.   

12th Fail is one of the hit(box office collection  67 crores worldwide) Indian films of 2023. This film has amassed good box office collections along with appreciation by film critics. From social media to the audience, everyone is talking about the film and the story on which the film is based. 

It can be said that the actor Vikrant Massey who played the protagonist is the IPS officer Manoj Kumar Sharma. The story is based on the book, the same name The 12th Fail by writer Anurag Pathak which was published in 2019. However, this book was the best seller in the country at that time. Now, the movie has carried the achievement forward. 

All About 12th Fail

This movie is all about hope, ambition, achievement, friendship, bond, success and life. It is a life lesson film of a UPSC aspirant, a boy (Manoj Kumar Sharma) who has failed his 12th Board exam and later went on to pass –UPSC– the world's toughest competitive exam. This movie showed that if someone is determined to become successful and achieve their dream, she/he can overcome all obstacles and reach their destination. 

The screenplay was written efficiently. There are so many motivational movie clips that have gone viral on social platforms. People are showing their love over there.  Every supporting actor and actress who has played well, especially the character of Shradha Joshi was played by actress Medha Shankar.

Every character in this movie holds a significant position that shows a bond and shared emotions between them.  This movie has established that there is a supportive woman behind every successful man– be it a mother, wife or girlfriend in this case.

On the other hand, friendship is also a significant part of this film. The director has shown how a friend sacrificed for his friend to become successful in their path. 

12th Fail & IMDB Rating

12th Fail is at the top of the top 250 Indian films in the IMDB rating. It is indeed a great success for the entire team of the film. It got a rating of  9.2  out of 10. Four remaining movies of the top five are The Legend of Prince Ram: 1993 animated film Ramayan, Mani Ratnam's Nayaka, Hrishikesh Mukherjee's Golmaal, and R Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect.

However, having an IMDB rating of 9.2, 12th Fail has passed over several blockbuster Hollywood movies of last year such as Spiderman: Across the Spider-Verse (8.6 ratings), Christopher Nolan's Oppenheimer (8.4 ratings), Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 (7.9 ratings), Killers of the Flower Moon (7.8 ratings), and Barbie ( 6.9 rating).
