Singer Danielle Leigh Curiel, better known as DaniLeigh has been arrested in Miami Beach after a DUI and a hit-and-run incident over the weekend. TMZ broke the news Tuesday (May 30) early morning.
According to the police report, Law Enforcement was called after a witness allegedly observed a grey Mercedes Benz speed off after hitting a moped. Another witness claims that multiple people attempted to get DaniLeigh’s attention to let her know the car was dragging the moped, but the efforts were to no avail.
The moped driver, who remains unnamed, sustained 2 non-life-threatening injuries, a spinal fracture, and a kidney laceration.
The Police eventually pulled over the 28-year-old singer, where an officer reported sluggish behavior and observed an alcohol smell from the vehicle. The officer also reported an intoxicated individual in the passenger seat. DaniLeigh denied hitting anyone with her car and told the officer that she is on her way back from a Memorial Day party.
The Officer conducted a field sobriety test which he reports she failed. Also, her blood alcohol concentration level registered almost twice the legal limit of .08 in Florida. Both Danileigh and The Passenger were arrested.
The “Easy” Singer was booked on 3 separate charges: driving under the influence, damage to property/person, and a hit-and-run. It’s important to note however, according to Click2Houston she is no longer listed in Miami-Dade jail records as of Tuesday afternoon.
DaniLaeigh rose to fame after being discovered by Prince where she Directed and starred in his “Breakfast Can Wait” Music Video. After that, she Choreographed for huge artists, most recently Beyonce, and wrote music for artists like Chris Brown, Justin Bieber, and Drake.
In 2018 DaniLeigh released her first single “The Plan” and followed it up with an Album of the same name. “The Plan” garnered Danileigh two huge hits “Lil Bebe” and “Easy”. After that, there was no stopping Dani’s career. In 2019 She followed her album up with another hit single, “Cravin”, a collab with G-Eazy and another hit collaboration in 2020 “Levi High” with Rapper DaBaby. Here is where some people might claim things went off the rails.
After their Collab, DaniLeigh and DaBaby started a relationship, that resulted in their now 10-month-old daughter. After a few months of dating the couple split in 2021 after DaBaby went on Instagram Live mid-argument with Dani where he kicks her out of the house along with their daughter, an infant at that point.
A lot of controversies followed that live, which some might say was the final nail in DaBaby’s career’s coffin. DaniLeigh stayed quiet releasing a few singles here and there. She finally returned to the limelight earlier this month releasing her single “Tasty”, which has the potential to be another hit under her belt. Things were looking up for DaniLeigh, as she managed to stay out of controversy until this incident.
