The long-awaited return of Pop star Normani is upon us as she teased “Candy Paint”, Her First Single in a Year, in a promotional clip for Bose’s QuietComfort Earbuds II and the QuietComfort 45 Headphones. Fans of the multi-award winner, or “The Nation” as she calls them, have been waiting for new music and the wait is finally over.
In the ad, Normani takes the viewers through her creative process as she is seen dancing, writing, and recording music as she is surrounded by magazine clippings and mood boards. As “Candy Paint” is playing in the background, a voiceover of Normani addresses the critics saying “People sometimes confuse my commitment to the craft with perfectionism. I don’t strive for perfection, I strive to be the most authentic version of myself, and I strive to create work that moves my spirit”.
Meanwhile, in an exclusive Billboard interview, Normani shared her excitement about her Bose partnership saying she was hands-on and had full leadership in terms of creative direction. The Motivation singer continued saying “It was probably one of the most seamless experiences for a partnership thus far. It was fun! The energy was great the day of the shoot and it just felt easy”.
As for new music, Normani said “I know the wait has been extensive but it’s going to be worth it”. When asked to describe “Candy Paint”, Normani said, “It’s a performance record first, which I know my fans have been waiting for, for a very long time. It’s fun, energetic, bossy. It’s bold. It’s sassy but assertive”.
The description for the Bose ad states that Normani’s debut album is “finally on the cusp”, which left The Nation very excited. Normani trended all day on Twitter after the release of the ad.
In the said description, Normani opened up about how music “saved” her. She revealed that both of her parents were diagnosed with cancer back-to-back and her music helped them with the process saying "When my mom was going through chemo the thing that kept her going was getting on FaceTime and being like, ‘How are the sessions going?’ She’s always so eager to hear the new records we’ve been working on. And then a year later when my dad ended up being diagnosed, he would say mid-treatment, ‘I’m ready for you to take over the world’”.
We last heard from Normani, music-wise, last year after releasing the hit single “Fair". She continued releasing a few features here and there but nothing of her own. However, Normani has been keeping herself busy as she voiced a character for “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder”, partnered with Fabletics for a performance wear line, and is set to make her big screen debut in the “Freaky Tales” movie.
The summer is Normani’s so make sure to catch a glimpse of “Candy Paint” in Bose’s all-new ad here:
