On the 20th of January, Amazon Prime released an official trailer for the Bollywood film Gehraiyaan, which stars Deepika Padukone, Siddhartha Chaturvedi, Ananya Pande, and Dhariya Karwa. Whereas Bollywood just released a remake of a south Indian film, here they have come up with a novel way of depicting adult relationship issues.
Gehraiyaan is one of the Bollywood flicks that may defy the rules. There is no superhero, no item song, and no VFX budget of Rs 200 crore in this film. Alisha Khan, a 30-year-old ambitious woman, finds herself at a fork in the road of her life. Her six-year-old romance has lost its luster, and everything in her life has become complicated, but just as she is prepared to face reality, something unexpected happens. She meets Tia, her cousin, and Zain, her fiancé. They depict the journey of Alisha and Zain. They talk about their history and gradually commit blunders in order to avoid facing reality.
The film is going to release on 11 February 2022, on Amazon Prime. Even though the Gehrayan film is not a remake of the south movie, the topic is very familiar with Life of a Metro, Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna, Bombay, Murder, etc. But, the theme of this movie is bold. Also, this is an adult movie where they show lots of intimate scenes. The movie Gehraiyaan through Bollywood wants to show how people get bored or feel flavorless after a long period of relationship and try to avoid making mistakes.
Ananya Pande's sixth film is Gehraiyaan. She revealed that after hearing Shakun and Ayesha Devitre narrate the movie to her, she dashed to the restroom and stayed there for 20 minutes. They were alarmed by her actions and assumed she was afraid and fainted while watching the movie, but she later said that it was because she couldn't believe she was going to get this project. Shakun had always been on her wish list. She was astounded when she learned about the initiative.
Deepika Padukone, Ananya, Sidhant, and Saturvadi Dhairya Karwa have received a lot of appreciation following the release of the movie trailer. Deepika Padukone used social media to inform her fans about her upcoming project in 2022. Her spouse Ranveer Singh also sent her a heartfelt card. Deepika has also stated in the media that the film holds a particular place in her heart. They have a strong bond between their cast and those who work tirelessly on the film. She also mentions Ananya's acting abilities. She complimented Ananya on her performance and noted how hardworking she is. She is glad for the opportunity to work on Gehraiyaan.
Karan Johar produced Gehraiyaan, which was directed by Shakun Batra. Shakun Batra is most recognised for his work as a director. In 2016, he directed "Kapur and Sons," a film that was also produced by Karan Johar under his Dharma Production label. Many fans questioned the film's depiction of the power of love and lust after seeing the trailer. According to Karan Johar, Gehraiyaan is a one-of-a-kind film.
Trailers only scratch the surface of the core story but the film is more than that. On watching the trailer you might think it's about infidelity-based relationships but it is talking about showing much more consciousness, mistakes in life. It is a film you have never seen before. It will show the power of love, lust, and longing how it is about the choices that they can make. Sometimes lust dominates one over love, sometimes love takes the suffering for its innocence.
Shakun Batra also states giving support to the film that the film is very different from the film "Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna" and Yash Chopra's 1976, "Kabhi Kabhi". The film is not about finding true love or a true person to fall for. He said we are trying to understand and explore the relationship which is, don't make boundaries between two people. In today's time how relationships are unraveled. It's not about finding the one but showing how you feel at that moment. He also mentions that for the first time we talk about stories that step out of the conventional romance. He also credited the cast for supporting the film and seeing the film for what it is.
Also, Deepika added Gehraiyaan as a great and brave film. She always wanted to work with Batra. She got a call from Batra when she was shooting in London for 83. Shakun was most certainly on and her husband loved to hear about that. He said Shakun and I would make an amazing film. We both share a good bond. He trusts me and I have a great amount of faith in him. I don't think, I ever have doubts about his sensibility. We share a relationship of honesty and kindness and I think that's the reason we can make such a brave film.
And Siddharth who is in the movie also shares his emotions about the film. He was also shocked after listening to the story and wondered how he was going to play the role because it was the first time someone made a story like that. But he just thought we have to do it and he is glad to play his role in this movie.
Karwa, who has previously appeared in films such as URI and 83, is starring in Gehraiyaan for the first time. He expressed his gratitude and stated that it is more than a film for him. He stated that he couldn't ask for anything better. He enjoys every minute of it and believes he has done the film justice.
After the release of the official trailer of the movie, a lot of fans are excited but are also receiving critical analysis. For the last two years, the public has been trolling Karan Johar for his nepotism and for choosing star kids for his films. Now we have to wait for the film to see if this is again going to create drama for Karan Johar or if he will succeed in satisfying the audience with his new movie.
