The rise of veganism and the reduction of climate change has been one of the biggest trends in our generation . People are looking for products that are specifically made from plants and are vegan and there have been an increase of corporations and businesses fulfilling that need. Lifestyles of people have also been influenced and they have stopped eating meat and changed to a full plant based diet. The rise of climate change and the increase in weather has caused the public and corporations to go after sustainable products and search for plant-based products as well. It lowered emission from our food production and requires less energy to make, making it more sustainable than meat based diet. As time moves forward climate change keeps on increasing and solutions are being looked for and one of the solutions that is being looked at is the changing of diet to plant based diets.
According to BBC (hyperlink) , “It seems that having the lowest carbon footprint as a vegan isn't guaranteed – it depends on what you eat. What is clear from our experiment (and more importantly, from rigorous scientific research) is that on average a plant-based diet has significantly fewer emissions. Eating large amounts of meat, especially beef, is a sure way to increase your emissions many times over”. This research was done by sarah bridle and rebecca lait, the author of the Food and Climate Change: Without the Hot Air and the sustainability freelance researcher. They did a research on veganism, vegetarianism and omnivore and emission levels of each and released that vegan and vegetarians had the lowest carbon emission and it was two of the most sustainable diets out of the 3. It helped reduce climate change when more people take on this diet.According to human decisions (hyperlink), Fashion companies like Dr. Martens, Etsy, Forever 21,etc have also started to eliminate the use of animal products out of their fashion company and are also focusing on cruelty- free production moving forward with their company. The use of animal resources has been polluting the fashion industry for a long time and some fashion companies have taken a stand to stop using animals in their products and look for more clean based aspects of resources.
