The government announced on Saturday that two individuals were killed when a hot-air balloon traveling near Mexico's famous Teotihuacan historic site caught fire.

The balloon continued to rise higher and higher into the sky as it burned, emitting a massive plume of smoke.

According to a statement from the state of Mexico's administration, the passengers "jumped from the balloon," and a youngster also had burn injuries. Without mentioning their identities, it stated that the victims were men and women aged 39. The people's identities were kept a secret. Uncertainty persists over any other information, such as if the balloon journey included any additional passengers. A toddler who managed to escape the burning beast, however, was injured and sustained second-degree burns to the face.

Teotihuacan is renowned for its magnificent architecture, which includes the Temple of the Feathered Serpent, the Pyramid of the Sun, and the Pyramid of the Moon. These imposing monuments have exquisite carvings and murals and were constructed from large stones. It is a historic city that can be found 45 miles northeast of Mexico City in the Basin of Mexico. The city was founded in 200 BCE, and by 400 CE, it had grown to be one of the biggest and most important cities in the area. Several tour operators offer balloon excursions above San Juan Teotihuacan. Every morning during the weekends, dozens of balloons float above the area; trips cost about £122. It draws countless numbers of visitors from all around the world each year.
