Back on November 15, 2022, former President Donald Trump announced his running to be the Republican Nominee for the 2024 Presidential Election. He is the first notable candidate to be officially announced with several other well-known people showing thoughts on running for the presidency.
With Trump just recently holding his first campaign rally in South Carolina to begin his campaign trail, some of the main issues that were spoken about according to Newsweek were the controversies surrounding President Biden and his son, not supporting transgender rights, criticizing the justice department, and mocked those who supported electric cars.
On the official website of Trump’s campaign, there is a list of agendas that are shown to be his main promises including rebuilding the economy, fair trade for American workers, and unleashing energy dominance.
However, while Trump is the only officially announced candidate in the running, others have begun showing possible hints and thoughts about joining the race.
Former South Carolina governor Nikki Haley has made news after The Post and Courier published an article stating that she will be announcing her run for the presidency on February 15. While she has not had any campaign promises or goals made official, she has her website with links to her social media accounts that have been more active in the past few months.
Two other possible notable candidates for the Republican side are Florida’s Gov. Ron Desantis and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. While both have not had any prereleases or confirmations within their inner circles of them running for the presidency, there are speculations that one or both may announce their running in the following months leading up to the Republican Primary Debates.
On the Democrat side, the most notable runner is President Joe Biden with CNN confirming that the President will officially announce his run for reelection after his State of the Union address that will take place on February 7. While there has not been any announcement of what goals and issues the President will use as his main points, there is an official website where it lists the accomplishments of the administration and opportunities to communicate or donate to the Democrat party. It currently does not list any agendas or goals.
Another possible candidate is Vice President Kamala Harris. She has not made any announcements or plans to not continue her position as vice president under President Joe Biden. With the announcement of President Biden looking to officially announce reelection, it currently seems unlikely.
Two other possible Democratic candidates are Former Georgia State Representative Stacy Abrams and U.S. Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg. However, both Abrams and Buttigieg have announced that if President Biden runs, they will support him. Just like Kamala Harris, it looks to be very unlikely for either to have any announcement on being a possible candidate for running to be the Democrat Nominee.
As it currently stands, the Republican party has a couple of notable candidates like Donald Trump and Nikki Haley as possible runners for the presidency while the Democrat party looks to be supporting President Biden as their main candidate. While it won’t be for another couple of months before we see who are the main runners for either party, seeing those who may run is good to keep in mind whom to support.
