The management of BEST has announced a Diwali offer to promote digital bus travel in the cities and suburbs. This unique offer provides users the opportunity to use five bus transfers in Mumbai for only 9 rupees and is valid for seven days.
On April 20, 2022, the State Environment inaugurated the first fully digital bus in Mumbai from the Gateway of India to the Churchgate route, which has a unique "tap-in-tap-out" feature.
This feature was introduced on ten buses on this route. It will later be extended to all 438 roads in the city. It is the country's first and aims to advance the digitization of the bus ticketing system. In addition, this system will provide convenience and comfort to travelers as they can log in with their smart card or through the "Chalo" app that can be installed on their smartphones.
At the end of the trip, travelers will receive a receipt on their cell phones if they use the app to get off, and they can also collect their ticket if they use the smart card. The tap-in tap-out feature will initially be available on two buses but will be expanded to 200 routes in the city.
BEST will also provide incentives for drivers and conductors who promote digital ticketing. The top ten drivers and conductors who raise awareness of the digital platform and attract more commuters will be rewarded.
