After ED arrest for cash-for-job scam Tamil Nadu minister Senthil Balaji breaks down;hospitalized after chest pain complaint

 


 


The Enforcement Directorate arrested Tamil Nadu electricity minister Senthil Balaji in a cash-for-job scam. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K.Stalin held a meeting at his residence after the arrest.


ED arrested Tamil Nadu power and excise minister S. Balaji after a search was conducted at his residence. The minister was arrested after long hours of questioning under the Prevention of the Money Laundering Act under PMLA for a cash-for-job scam. The raids were strongly criticized by the Chief Minister and the Opposition Party.


Balaji was earlier with the AIADMK and was the Transport Minister in the Jayalalitha-led cabinet of ministers.


ED started its raids 24 hrs before at his residence where the minister was present. The minister complained of chest pain around 1:30AM, the same time as he was notified of his arrest. He was shifted to the Omaduran government hospital in Chennai.


Drama was seen when the minister was brought to the hospital. His supporters gathered to protest while he was crying in pain, lying in the car. The doctors saw variations in his ECG and shifted him to the ICU (intensive care unit).


Rapid Action Force was deployed in the Omanduran Hospital in Chennai where the minister was brought for medical examination and treatment.


DMK leader NR Elango and Senthil Balaji's lawyer told IndiaToday that


Senthil Balaji was arrested and brought to the hospital in an unconscious state. The arrest was illegal and they will fight against it legally.


Tamil Nadu Ministers Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi I.Periyasamy, R Gandhi, and Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi and Ponmudi arrived at the hospital to see Senthil Balaji.


DMK minister Udhayanidhi Stalin added that the minister is undergoing treatment and the arrest was illegal. They will fight for it legally and are not afraid of the dirty politics played by the central government.


S Raghupathi, Tamil Nadu Law Minister told ANI that Senthil Balaji was tortured. He was questioned for 24 hours and was kept in custody. The lawyer states that this is against human rights and they will fight against it.


High Security was deployed near the Karur Bus Stand after the minister was admitted to the hospital.
