Delhi: Clinics at Government Schools
For children, health is vital because they are more vulnerable than adults. And are at more risk to develop illness and health issues. When children are given proper guidance and health, they can grow into healthy human beings, and in this way, they can contribute to the development of a productive society. Children require extra attention during their childhood and teenage years. At every step of their physical and mental development, children have specific needs and different health risks.
In upcoming days clinics will be open in schools with a proper staff including nurses, psychologists, and other workers. A doctor will be available for every clinic. Students from classes 9 to 12 will be called for a checkup with written consent from their parents. In the upcoming week, routine health checkups, as well as counseling, will start at government schools in Delhi next week. This is a new task for the Delhi government like they have established Mohalla clinics successfully, but this clinic will be used by the students of the school and will be operated during school hours only.
Like Mohalla clinics, these too will operate from cabins installed in the school premises. The health department and the education department will work together to promote and provide physical and mental health services to children in government schools of Delhi.
The clinic will also focus on the emotional and cognitive wellbeing of the children studying in the school especially during covid. The students will get workshops regarding mental health and counseling too.
