Eskom, South Africa's power utility, announced on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, that they will transition to stage 4 loadshedding, which will be in effect until 05:00 on Friday. The failure of two additional generation units, the power utility claimed in a media statement this morning, was the reason for moving to stage 4 of loadshedding. As per the statement, a generation unit at each of the Tutuka and Majuba power stations tripped this morning, adding to the failures of each unit that tripped at Tutuka, Camden, Matla, and two units at Majiba yesterday. According to the power utility, 5 124MW of capacity is now planned for maintenance, while another 16 519MW is unavailable due to unscheduled outages.
