Highland Park Mass Shooting on Independence Day

Terror has struck a town in Illinois yesterday, Independence Day, because a shooter propped himself up onto a roof during a parade and unleashed a plethora of ammunition on unsuspecting random citizens.

At approximately noon on Independence Day, in a relatively small Illinois town of Highland Park, a young man named Robert “Bobby” E. Crimo III opened fire on a parade. According to the local police, it was “random” and “intentional” due to the suspect’s signs of aggression from his past. After combing through his online history, the FBI and other authorities found imagery and language to suggest that a mass shooting had been his goal for quite some time. One instance of his intentions was a music video in which the suspect went under the handle “Awake the Rapper.”

In the video called “Toy Soldier,” there is animation and characters that resemble the suspect and police officers. During the video, he fires upon someone random and you see the other character lying face down with a pool of blood forming around it. And to add further to this imagery, the lyric “I need to just do it. It is my destiny” is sung in his song “Are You Awake.” It is also worth mentioning that the suspect was animated like how he appeared at the parade, with tactical gear and assault weapons all over his person. That same tactical gear and assault weapons were bought legally by the 22-year-old from a local firearm store near the location of the mass shooting.

During the shooting, the suspect was positioned onto a building of a local business on the parade route and then began firing upon innocent parade attendants and walkers. 26 people were received at the local hospital after the shooting commenced, with their age range being between eight and 85 years old.

After the altercation, the suspect fled from the scene and was then caught at a traffic stop. He was placed under arrest and put under investigation for his possible role in the mass shooting. When asked about his behavior, family members and friends said that they could never imagine this happening. They all believed that even though he discussed things like this online and with others, he would never carry it out. More information will be released once it has been found through investigation, and Mr. Crimo is still under police supervision as of right now.
