Is India’s Most Wanted Terrorist Masood Azhar Dead? Here’s the Reality

The social media is flooded with viral videos of an explosion in Pakistan which claim that India’s most wanted terrorist Masood Azhar was killed in the bomb blast. This viral video caused an uproar.

The X handles(past Twitter) from Pakistan shared this video showing India’s one of the wanted terrorists who was involved in multiple terror attacks in India. He was killed in a bomb blast in the Bahawalpur region of Pakistan.

Interestingly, several news platforms shared the same viral video on social media. But this news has gathered no coverage from any mainstream in Pakistan or India.  Questions are being raised about the reality of this viral video of Masood Azhar being dead.

The Truth of The Viral Video

In November 2023, a video circulated claiming a police van had been attacked in the Dera Ismail Khan region of Pakistan. However, it was later discovered that the footage was recycled from 2019, initially misattributed to the alleged targeting of three social media influencers in a blast. The veracity of this claim about the influencers remains unconfirmed.

Masood Azhar's involvement in multiple terror cases in India

Masood Azhar, the leader of the terrorist organization Jaish-e-Mohammed, is wanted in India for his involvement in numerous acts of terrorism. His group claimed responsibility for various attacks against India, including the 2001 Parliament terror attack and the 2019 assault on CRPF personnel in Pulwama, Jammu and Kashmir.

Historically, Pakistan has been known to shelter India's most wanted terrorists. However, recent reports suggest a shift in Azhar's location.

According to Pakistan's communication with Afghanistan's Taliban government, they suspect that Masood Azhar is currently residing in Afghanistan. Pakistan has indicated that Azhar is likely hiding in the Nangarhar or Kunar province.
