Johannesburg is said to be the worst city in the Middle East and Africa for senior citizens, while Lagos has the worst quality of life. Nairobi and Cairo are the second and third worst. Dubai is known to offer the most exceptional living standards for senior citizens, Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv as well.
These are some factors that lead to the conclusion that a city is poor or the worst to live in, the infrastructure of each city, the quality of all services, especially health benefits as it is essential for senior citizens. How easy it is to go by around the location also considering mobility options in the city and affordability and available housing, the safety of public transport in locations, and how connected the cities were.
According to Pablo Martinez, a researcher from Magmatic Research, says, “the main reason Johannesburg is ranked so low is because of safety. Johannesburg is known as a playground for criminals.”
