Then we have Dubai, which is known for being a welcoming country. Mexico City for being affordable.
Miami is the highest-ranked in North American city on the list. It is in 12th place, with New York being 16th and Toronto being 19th. UK, London limped to the 40th position. Asia, Bangkok was the 6th because of its low cost of living, Melbourne’s work life earned the 8th spot, and Singapore was in the top 10. InterNations researched 11,970 ex-pats that live in 181 countries or territories. Only 50 cities met the demand of at least 50 members per destination.
Johannesburg is said to be the worst city in the Middle East and Africa for senior citizens, while Lagos has the worst quality of life. Nairobi and Cairo are the second and third worst. Dubai is known to offer the most exceptional living standards for senior citizens, Abu Dhabi and Tel Aviv as well.
These are some factors that lead to the conclusion that a city is poor or the worst to live in, the infrastructure of each city, the quality of all services, especially health benefits as it is essential for senior citizens. How easy it is to go by around the location also considering mobility options in the city and affordability and available housing, the safety of public transport in locations, and how connected the cities were.
According to Pablo Martinez, a researcher from Magmatic Research, says, “the main reason Johannesburg is ranked so low is because of safety. Johannesburg is known as a playground for criminals.”
