Lamborghini confirms electric Urus for 2029

Stephan Winkelmann, CEO of the Italian super sports car brand Lamborghini confirms the electric version of the only SUV made by the company. The Urus is a bestseller, five years after it was launched, in 2022 the car represented more than half of the sales and 70% of the SUV buyers are customers who have never owned a Lamborghini, so it is a product that is bringing new customers. But this is not the only record of the car, it is also considered today the fastest SUV on the planet, surpassing the newest on the market, Pure Blood, manufactured by Ferrari.

Lamborghini is preparing to make a big leap and usher in a new era, the brand's "electric era". The first one hundred percent electric car promises to be launched in 2028, and in 2029 the Urus will be the second, says the executive at the company's headquarters during a press conference in Sant'Agata in Italy. Consumers are very excited about the arrival on the market and willing to pay a whopping $225,000.

But before the brand's future 100 percent electric launches, hybrid Lamborghinis hit the market this year promising to be the successor to the Aventador. The hybrids are coming with a V12 gasoline engine and three electric thrusters, which together will add up to 1,001 horsepower. Hurùcan and the Urus itself, get hybrid models next year (2024).

However, with the commitment to always create super fast, technological, and high-performance cars one can expect at least excellence for this new project. And with the growing popularity of electric cars and the great demand, it is very possible that in the luxury car segment, this new electric Urus will become a reference, as it was five years ago (at the launch of the company's first SUV) and also the expectations of manufacturers and of course consumers placed on these two projects that meant new eras for the company, are similar.

The brand recognized worldwide for making powerful V10 and V12 is cautiously entering this universe of electrification not to shake the DNA, but the question everyone is wondering is why the introduction into this world. We all know that electric cars bring millions of benefits, from less pollution for the environment to a much lower cost for the consumer. And like it or not, this is the new future, and to survive in a world of change, you have to change with it.

Lamborghini is willing to invest more than two million euros in its electric range. In the face of critics, this project of the brand is a bit ambitious but with a lot of potential, the company is working hard in the search for technologies and solutions capable of providing exceptional driving dynamics and performance.
