A 31 year-old-man wanted on a Canada-wide search warrant has been arrested after nearly one month on the run.
Michael Stamatakos, who the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have wanted since last month, was spotted by a nurse at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton on Saturday.
The man was arrested at 11:30 p.m. and was taken to the Hamilton Detention Center, where Stamatakos currently resides.
His facial tattoos include a heart, teardrop, stitches on his right cheek, “Ha Ha Ha Ha” on his forehead and a skeleton mouth that covers the entire bottom half of his face.
He also has “SD KEYZ” tattooed on his right calf, “THE WORLD IS MINE” on his left hand and “SPARTON” on his neck.
Stamatakos is serving a two-year sentence for arson - property damage, dangerous conveyance operation, flight from a peace officer, an utter threat to cause death/harm, and possession of a schedule 1 substance.
The Canada-wide search warrant was issued on February 23rd “due to his breach of Statutory Release,” according to the initial press release.
Stamatakos became viral online in Canadian circles due to having a full face of tattoos. After Global News tweeted information regarding his arrest, many users online cracked wise about his appearance: “Looks friendly,” said one user. “Pretty easy to pick out of a lineup,” said another.
The heavily-tattooed man is the latest to join the roster of viral Toronto-area criminals. Other such offenders include Marcella “Chair Girl” Zoia, who was recorded throwing a chair off a balcony onto a busy street in February 2019.
In November 2019, Samuel Opoku was arrested concerning three separate incidents at York University and the University of Toronto, where he had thrown feces at unsuspecting citizens.
These crimes’ popularity is often intensified when posted by @6ixbuzztv, a popular GTA-focused Instagram news and meme page.
