The 85-car pileup occurred around 12:30 p.m. and blocked traffic for hours on both sides of the road. No cars were able to move during this time. The crash caused both sides of the highway to shut down for the day. The accident was on the I-39/90 highway near the Wisconsin-Illinois border. The wreck cleared around 9:45 p.m., and I-39/90 highway reopened after being closed all day.
According to nearby hospitals, all injuries sustained during the multi-vehicle accident are not life-threatening. The number of injured is increasing, now about twenty-seven. The weather conditions caused the crash, which wrecked many vehicles.

The weather conditions were a heavy factor in the massive crash that occurred. Friday in Wisconsin, they received snow and ice, causing cars to slide and rendering them unable to see where they were going. The ice and snow made it slippery for cars to brake and avoid crashing into other vehicles. State Patrol reported that weather was a significant part of why the pileup even occurred, a “severe winter weather event,” was said by the State Patrol of Wisconsin.
The weather conditions for Wisconsin will be the same from Friday through Sunday, with more snow expected on Saturday. Snow, ice, and whiteout can cause cars to slip or crash. Individuals that live in Wisconsin stay safe and don’t drive if unnecessary.
