Texan Teen Stopped From Carrying Out Mass Shooting

Texas teen Rodolfo Aceves was arrested for planning another mass shooting at an Amazon Warehouse on Sous Vide Way.

According to authorities, Acevecs, 19, was an employee at the amazon warehouse he was threatening to shoot up.

Other warehouse employees contacted police after they heard Aceves planning to carry out the threat. Officers were able to locate Aceves at a different location and were able to detain him. The officers also found an AR-15 rifle with him at the site.

According to the arrest report obtained by News 4 SA, a coworker said Aceves told her, "It would be a good idea to pull the fire alarm and have all employees exit the building and to commit a mass shooting." In addition, that same coworker said that while giving the suspect a ride home, she said that Aceves kept referencing the Uvalde elementary school shooting that also happened in texas a month prior. Aceves called that shooter an idol.

Aceves's father told authorities that his son had had mental health issues in the past. The suspect was institutionalized at the age of 16 and was off his prescribed medication. He told investigators that when his son purchased the AR-15, it left the family scared of him and what he could do.

The San Antonio Police Department posted this message on their Facebook page, "This case highlights the importance of community collaboration and appropriate responses. This is the essence of 'see something, say something.' If not for the witness who came forward, this incident could have resulted in a tragic outcome."

Aceves was released from jail after posting a $50,000 bond. Despite this, he is back in court on July 26 for a preliminary hearing.

This situation comes just two days after the Highland Park 4th of July Parade shooting, leaving people too afraid to attend any gathering.

The amount of mass shootings across the nation is alarming, and the numbers only keep increasing. According to a study by Everytownresearch, since 2009, there have been 278 mass shootings in the United States. 5 of the nation's deadliest mass shootings involved assault firearms and high-capacity magazines.
