Biden has been in office for nearly two years, which means he only has two more years in the Oval Office. It indicates that election season is right around the corner.
Presidential candidates will start advertising and campaigning. Who the campaign caters to and what they promise is very important.
Recently, over the last year, there have been two major concerns. One of them being inflation. A target that is primarily being focused on by the Republican Party. Many Republicans are usually concerned with the economy. Inflation is the rise in prices of goods and necessities. Something that makes many people in the US upset.
NPR stated that “overall, 30% identified inflation as their top issue, but that is down 7 points from the last time the question was asked in July.”
On the other side of the spectrum, we have another issue that has plagued people's minds since May. And that issue is abortion. The overturning of Roe V Wade gives each state the power to decide whether or not a person can get an abortion.
The Democratic Party is more concerned with abortion rights. Abortion is the right to end a pregnancy if it is dangerous or unwanted. This may hold more importance to people, as that may be the reason that inflation lost seven points in the poll.
A poll done by NPR showed that 40% of Republicans voted that inflation was more of a prominent issue, while 13% of Democrats voted for inflation.
In total, 30% of voters voted for inflation, including the Independent party. When it came to abortion, 35% of Democrats voted that it was more important, while 10% of Republicans voted for its significance. But in the end, only time will tell how much this number will change.
What we know is that President Biden’s approval rating has gone high. It went up from 36% in July to 41%. NPR claims that it is because the Independent party gave him those points.
