Wearing Mask Is An Mandate Now

Authorities removed the mask mandate for public spaces, offices began operating at full capacity, children returned to school and some went to the gym and went to the movies for the first time, while Delhiites living in New Delhi, India’s national capital, were just getting back to normal life.  Time theaters were working as before the epidemic but did the authorities move to pre-epidemic life too soon?  They have now been brought back to Delhi 21 days after the removal of the mask mandate.  The Delhi Disaster Management Authority has also imposed a fine of Rs 500 for any violation of the mask.

DDMA will issue a separate standard operating system or SOP in consultation with experts.  With covid cases and positivity rates rising in New Delhi, experts say masks need to be applied strictly.  Last week, the number of cases in Delhi has tripled from 200 daily cases per week and new infections are being reported every day.  The April 11 positivity rate was 2.7%, it touched 7.7% on April 18 and on Tuesday, Delhi reported new cases at a positive rate of 4.4%.  Neighboring states of Uttar Pradesh and Haryana have also imposed mass restrictions in selected districts around the national capital, including fines for violating the rules.  Experts have commented that the science behind the mask is clear and therefore for all of us to see.  There is strong scientific evidence to suggest that the use of masks provides the first line of defense against infection and that immunization with a vaccine can help a country survive any kind of fresh wave.

Generally, when all restrictions are lifted, social cohesion increases and immunity goes in vain.  A well-fitted mask will reduce the risk of infection.  A Lancet study says.  Wearing a face mask in a public place and in public transport mode a few weeks after the vaccine reaches its threshold can save lives and reduce hospital admissions.  With the rise of covid infection in New Delhi and the mask mandate, will it make the Indian capital witness the return of other stringent restrictions, a question that is on the minds of citizens.

Mask orders were returned almost days after their removal, including fines for violating any kind of masks.  What does this order say about other restrictions?  Are there more restrictions in the Indian capital?  So far there is no indication from the authorities here about the new restrictions in the national capital of India, in fact schools are open and with the reopening of schools, returning students are concerned about Kovid as the number of Kovid infected students has increased significantly in the Delhi suburbs.

Children are returning to school and parents are concerned that their children will not be vaccinated.  The heat of Delhi makes it very difficult for them to wear masks when they are in the classroom.  The only way to get out of this situation right now is to close schools amid growing cases.

The Delhi Chief Minister is holding a meeting where he has instructed the officials to ensure that citizens follow the COVID protocol.  Orders were issued mainly due to the increase in the number of cases.  The number of cases in the national capital has tripled since April, with the same trend seen in large parts of the country.  In view of the situation, the Health Secretary has written a letter to his opponents in Maharashtra and elsewhere to ensure compliance with the Covid Protocol.
