Many fans will be excited to know that Netflix has now officially announced that the much-loved show Wednesday has been renewed for season 2.
This news should not come as much of a surprise as the ending of which we left at Season 1 left us with many questions yet to be answered, as well as the show's amazing success and almost guaranteed a renewal.
One of the biggest discoveries made in the finale episode was a fan theory that the death of Professor Weems may not be as definitive as we may have thought. We learned in previous episodes that she has the ability to shapeshift after Wednesday discovers that she disguised herself as Rowan to avoid further suspicions. In the final few seconds, we see that the driver's (Lurch) eyes seem suspiciously different from the first time he dropped her off, which led to many fans believing that it could be Professor Weems in disguise.
The love that fans have given both the show and Jenna Ortega, the main lead, shows a promising future for the show. Currently, the show is sitting at the third most-watched Netflix show and the second most-watched English show, with a viewership of over 1 billion in just 3 weeks since its release. The show has taken over the internet with recreations of Wednesday's iconic dance routine with Lady Gaga’s song Bloody Mary (despite not being in the series) that can be found all over popular platforms such as TikTok and Instagram.
The teaser trailer is currently on YouTube and, within the first couple hours, has gained over 640 thousand views, 93 thousand likes, and over 4 thousand comments. The craze behind Wednesday doesn’t look as though it will die down anytime soon.
Whilst no official date has been announced we look forward to seeing what the next season will bring.
