After over two long years since its announcement in March 2021, the spin off series to the much loved To All the Boys franchise, XO Kitty, will be releasing on Netflix on May 18th.
This time the spotlight is on the youngest, and sassiest, of the three Covey sisters, Katherine Song Covey (Anne Cathcart), better known as Kitty. Her days of playing the meddlesome matchmaker for her clueless sister Lara Jean (Lana Condor) have finally come to an end. In this series, Kitty is on a journey of her own. She is leaving behind her hometown in Portland, Oregon in hopes of finding love amongst other things in South Korea.
Being the more proactive and charming of the three sisters, managing her love life shouldn’t be too tricky, right?
Well, after venturing off to Seoul in hopes of reuniting with her long distance boyfriend Dae (Choi Min-young), Kitty quickly comes to the realisation that things don’t always fall into place as easily as one may expect.
It’s certainly not as chaotic as having the love letters you wrote over the years, hidden safely in an unsuspecting blue box in your closet, miraculously disappearing and delivering themselves to all your crushes. Then again, moving countries and having to adapt to a completely new high school and culture comes with its own set of struggles. In this 10 part romantic-comedy, we’ll watch know-it-all Kitty, navigate and find her feet in this brand new setting.
With less than two weeks to go, the excitement is almost palpable.
Unfortunately, Lara Jean and her beau Peter Kravinsky (Noah Santiago) will not be making an appearance in this spinoff. Nevertheless, we cannot wait to see what Kitty gets up to in Seoul.
