In the midst of mounting pressure over the Center to delay the CBSE Board examinations planned for one month from now, the Education Ministry, after a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has declared to postpone class 12 exams. The ministry will review the circumstance on June 1 to choose new dates for the exams to be held.
For CBSE class 10 students , result will be set up based on an "objective" to be created by the Board. Any applicant who isn't happy with the marks on this basis will be allowed a chance to sit in a test as and when the conditions are helpful for hold the tests. A year ago too CBSE had conceived another plan for class 10 students.
The meeting was attended by Union education minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank', education secretary and other officials.In an explanation given after the gathering, the Union education ministry said, "Looking to the current circumstance of the pandemic and school terminations, and furthermore considering the security and prosperity of the students, it is chosen as follows. The Board Exams for Class 12 which were earlier scheduled from May 4th to June, 14th, 2021 are postponed for now . These exams will be held later taking consideration of the pandemic. Class 10th exams are cancelled.A notice of at least 15 days will be given before the start of the examinations, the press release said.
Because of a flood in COVID-19 cases in the country, numerous guardians and students were raising worries for wellbeing and posting their feelings with the hashtag #CancelBoardExams2021 on Twitter and labeling Twitter handles of CBSE authorities and the Education Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal 'Nishank' .
During the meeting, Prime Minister stated that the well-being of the students has to be the top priority for the government. He also added that the Centre would ensure that their health is taken care of, while also keeping in mind that their academic interests are not harmed.
Many celebrities also took their Twitter accounts to express their concern towards students and requested the government to cancel/postpone the exam for the sake of safety.
Over 1.84 lakh new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours in the country.
