Emma Raducanu Getting Ready for Wimbledon, 2022

Emma Raducanu was out (during a match) of Rothesay Open Nottingham with a side injury (back-injury) where she withdrew in first round against Vikrojija Golubic. She retired from all tournaments after the injury and is hoping to come back at Wimbledon in the last week of June.

Emma is the current Brit number 1 tennis player at 19 years old. She is the current US champion (2021- her first major title) and first British women’s champion since Virginia Wade in 1977. This baseline player has achieved so much at such a young age, even reaching top 100 in just a year after her WTA debut.

The most prestigious grand slam Wimbledon, 2022 will be held on June 27th. There are four grand slam tournaments – Australian Open, French Open, Wimbledon and US open – Wimbledon being the oldest founded in 1877.

Emma was eliminated in the second round of the 2022 US open recently, as she succumbed to injury. She is still in her early stage and has a long way to go and develop as a player. Still she stated in a press conference that she is not in a hurry. She has the potential to be World number 1 someday.

Recently, she was criticised by sport journalists for her frequent injuries. These criticisms are largely due her self-coaching and not having a permanent coach. But this could also be the reason for her achievements, allowing her time to shape as a player.

After the US Open, she had already retired three times during the match due to injury. The challenge now is to be fit for Wimbledon. Less injury is required to be a world-class player which she also works consistently on overcoming trial and thriving. She has been practicing and working hard on all court types and in all the weather conditions, sharpening her spin, angles and junk.
