On an unforgettable night, Liverpool won the Premier League derby with a final score of 7-0 against Manchester United.
The historical victory came in an unexpected period. Despite Liverpool's poor results in Premier League (PL) compared to previous seasons, and the shocking loss by 5 to 2 against Real Madrid at home Anfield stadium two weeks ago, Liverpool surprised all and defeated United by a classical seven.
Each Darwin Núñez, Cody Gakpo, and Mohammad Salah scored twice for Liverpool before Roberto Firmino came off the bench and scored seventh to complete the exceptional victory.

Speaking to Sky Sports in Post-Match Press Conference, Liverpool's manager Jurgen Klopp expressed " A really top performance from the start. I thought the way we started the game was really special, the best for a long, long, long, long, long, long time".
“I know that we can play a good football and better than we showed in a couple of times this season, but there is always a reason why we didn’t do it. The main difference is we have now pretty much all players available, which is super helpful” Klopp explained the reason behind previous poor performance and the historical win.
The always supportive coach praised his players, especially new signings Darwin Núñez and Cody Gakpo after they were in a position of doubt about their abilities.
"I think nobody was in doubt about Darwin's future impact when he settles because he is a real force of nature, Cody plays in the most difficult area of the pitch against a man-marking side which is super-tricky, but how he keeps himself on his feet are there and he has the overview of everybody else" Klopp commented.
Man United’s worst record
The thrashing result is United's hugest defeat in the Premier League era. United haven't lost by seven since the 7-0 against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the second division in 1931.
The timing of the defeat was shocking. United players have traveled to Liverpool after knocking out Barcelona in the Europa League. They also won the Carabao Cup against Newcastle at Wembley Stadium on February 26, the first trophy since 2017.
In addition, the Red Devils went to Anfield with an 11-game unbeaten streak. Despite all, they couldn't stop the tide of Liverpool or even score a goal in the important and exciting match.
The defeat didn't stay at Anfield but went to Old Trafford's dream of getting the "Premiere League back home".
On their squad WhatsApp chat, United players spoke about “catching Manchester City and Arsenal,” the Daily Mail reported.
However, Anfield's defeat widened the gap between United and the PL leader Arsenal to 14 points, after Arsenal won the final minutes 3-2 against Bournemouth one day before.
The heavy loss left a negative impact on the United coach and players. The United coach could not overcome the heavy loss, so he spoke harshly to his players.
“It was not about one or two players. It was the whole team; you saw 11 individuals losing their heads,” Ten Hag told reporters after the game.
“That is unprofessional, that is not Manchester United. We have other standards; these were not the standards we want to show.
“For the [fans] who stayed, it was tough, and we really have to thank them,” ten Hag added.
United captain Bruno Fernandes tried to show maintenance while speaking to Sky Sports after the game.
Although he said the defeat is "very frustrating, disappointing, sad", he claimed "‘the first half was really good from ourselves, we had a lot of chances. We controlled most of the first half I think, they didn’t create that much."

The Liverpool Comeback
After the crazy win against United, Liverpool fans and soccer lovers have put their eyes on the Champions League second-leg game between Liverpool and Real Madrid, the most Champions League wins with 14 trophies.
The first leg ended with Madrid winning 5-2 at Anfield. It was not an ordinary victory for Madrid but identical to theirs in the Champions League.
Núñez scored an early goal for Liverpool, and Salah added a second one in the 14th, after a fatal mistake by goalkeeper Courtois.
However, the defending Champions League could again turn the game around and score 5 in a dramatic match.
After beating United, Liverpool will probably go to Madrid's Bernabéu stadium with a refreshed mentality.
Liverpool did it against Barcelona in 2018. They made a historical comeback by scoring four at Anfield after the first match ended 3-0 for Barcelona.
Therefore, all eyes are on the second-leg game against Madrid next Wednesday, March 15.
