Messi and Ronaldo to meet for 'The Last Dance'

Football fans mark your calendars. The moment we have all been waiting for is just around the corner, and it might very well be the last time. World champion Leo Messi will face Portuguese legend Christiano Ronaldo on Thursday, February 01 2024 at 1 PM ET. It is confirmed by the Inter Miami X (formerly Twitter) account, that Inter Miami will go head-to-head with AL Nassr at Kingdom Arena Stadium, Riyadh. It's a round-robin tournament format, in which Inter Miami will face Saudi Thunders Al-Hilal SFC and AL Nassr.

It all started in 2008 when they met each other on the pitch for the very first time. Since then their rivalry has been at its peak and they have played 35 games in which both scored 41 goals and 13 assists. In an October 2012 El Clasico (Barcelona vs Real Madrid) draw match, both scored a brace underscoring their enormous achievements. They both shared 13 Ballon d'Or and 10 golden boots and their stats were astounding. Their most recent encounter took place when Messi was at Paris Saint-Germain in which he won by 5-4 and both had scored.

"It is another big chance to create lasting relationships with incredible fans," Inter Miami Chief Business Officer Xavier Asensi said in a press release. "We are excited to join new fans in Saudi Arabia and also hope people all over the world will be tuning in to see a pair of dream matches like these," he added. Fans are calling it 'The Last Dance' on social media and they are over the moon with joy. They are super happy about the pre-season tour to Saudi Arabia.

Messi, Busquets, and Jordi Alba will face ex-teammate Neymar (injured as of now) junior against AL-Hilal contest that is scheduled for Monday, January 29 2024 at 1 PM ET at Kingdom Arena Stadium Riyadh. They will play against their arch-rival Ronaldo against AL Nassr after two days. The coaches are also happy to test their team skills as they face teams of similar calibre. Even Inter Miami sporting director Chris Henderson has had positive words to say about this tour.

This is a great initiative by the American club to play against teams from Saudi Arabia before the season begins. This move is bound to bring joy to their supporters who cannot wait to see their idols in action again. Moreover, this venture will give a new taste to the football world. We might see similar matches in the future as well. Inter Miami is going to play against Japanese club Vissel Kobe on Feb 07, 2024, following the preseason tour.
