As the intense second leg of the 14th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) comes to its business end, the latest developments unfold as BCCI Secretary Mr. Jay Shah announces that MS Dhoni who was appointed mentor for the T20 World Cup that is going to begin on 17th of October, 2021 will charge no remuneration for the role he agreed upon last month.
In an interaction with the ANI, Mr. Jay Shah who is serving as a Secretary to the BCCI affirmed that MS Dhoni has not requested any sort of fees for rendering his service as a mentor for the T20 World Cup 2021. Here’s what he had to say: ‘’MS Dhoni is not charging any honorarium for his services as the mentor of the Indian team for the T20 World Cup’’
MS Dhoni who hung up his international boots the previous year is leading his franchise Chennai Super Kings in this edition of the IPL. Chennai Super Kings have qualified for IPL finals for the 9th time since the tournament’s inception which is also the most for any single franchise. Although he has been the captain since 2008 and has led beautifully with utmost grace over the years, it is his contribution with the bat that is not supporting his cause.
India is all set to start their tournament against their fierce rivals Pakistan (on October 24)- a contest fans around the globe look forward to in ICC Tournaments given these nations do not indulge in bilateral series against each other since 2012. The highly anticipated match is followed by one against New Zealand on the 31st of October and Afghanistan on the 3rd of November.
