Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have a difficult task at hand as they prepare to go head-to-head on Saturday 4 February. Orlando Pirates defender Bandile Shandu has alluded that the team (Pirates) has prepared well for the encounter and admits that the supporters have helped the team.
“Two big clubs, with great players as well, it will be a huge skeptical of a game and I think our supporters at Orlando Stadium have been wonderful for us. They have helped us a lot and I know they will come in numbers and we are grateful for them.
“We have had a look at them but like I said before it's just focusing on Orlando Pirates you know, focusing on ourselves. Making sure we correct what we didn’t do right in the previous games and make sure we perfect that. So, the main thing is to work as a team and look out for one another” he told the media.
Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are currently the inform teams in the Dstv Premiership league. The reigning MTN 8 champions have three wins in a row, while the reigning Dstv Premiership has fourteen wins in a row.
Pirates are currently occupying the fourth position just a point behind SuperSport United and three points behind Richards Bay who lost against Swallows on Friday 3 February. A win for coach Jose Riveiro’s team Pirates will mean they will occupy the second position if SuperSport loses their game against Cape Town City.
A win for Pirates will boost their morale after they have boosted their squad in the January transfer window. With Miguel Timm, Thembinkosi Lorch, and Richard Ofori back in action, Pirates has a larger pool of players to cause a threat against Bafana Ba Style.
Even though Sundowns did not utilize the transfer window, the Brazilians have a lot in their arsenal to cause trouble for Pirates. Young talent Cassius Mailula will aim to keep up his good form when he faces Pirates.
