UFC 276 promises an entertaining fight night that also sees a South African fighter making the fight card.

UFC 276 will be televised on Sunday the 3rd of July, at 4 am South African time. This fight card is expected to serve as the blockbuster card this weekend, taking place in Las Vegas, T-Mobile Arena.

Middleweight Champion Israel Adesanya( 22-1) will be facing Jarel Cannonier(15-5) in their main-event bout.

Adesanya last fought in February 2022, where he retained his middleweight belt by defeating Robert Wittaker via unanimous decision.

Cannonier last fought in February 2022 and came out victorious with a TKO win in the 2nd round against Derek Brunson.

While the fight between Alexander Volkanovski( 24-1) and Max Holloway will be the co-main event. The fight will be a trilogy bout for the Featherweight title.

Reigning Featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski was the winner in his previous two meetings with former champion Max Holloway in 2019 and 2020 respectively.

In their first meeting, Volkanovski won the bout via a comfortable unanimous decision. Holloway was given an immediate rematch bout in July 2020, where he lost via a split decision.

Holloway was convinced he won the second bout but the judges thought otherwise.

Holloway and Volkanovski met at UFC 276 pay-per-view earlier this week. The interaction between the two fighters could intensely be seen. Holloway acknowledges that the two previous fights has revealed that Volkanovski is not as tough as be portrays himself to be.

“All week, all I heard was you guys talking about damage, we talking about damage here. All you guys say damage this, damage that. I am known for taking damage and his( Volkanovski) known for not giving it, so let’s get it”. Holloway said at UFC 276 pay-per-view.

South Africa's Dricus Du Plessis is part of the fight-card this weekend as he prepares to go against Brad Tavares.

Du Plessis has not fought in the octagon since July 2021 against Trevin Giles. He won the fight with a TKO in the second round, making it 16 wins. This weekend he will look for his 17th win when he goes against Taveres.

“I think Brad Taveres is a much harder fight than Gastelum. I think Taveres is an extremely great athlete. He is tough as nails. He has great striking. He has very good takedown defence”, Du Plessis said per Daily Maverick.

“ He went the distance with Yoel Romero, he went the distance with Adesanya. He is such a tough fighter who can take punishment.

“My game plan is to go out there and finish Brad Taveres and do within three rounds what the champion, Adesanya couldn’t do in five. And that should be making a good statement”, he added.
