
International Yoga Day was first proposed by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the UN General Assembly on 11 December 2014 as a priceless gift of India's ancient tradition. The idea was endorsed by 175 countries and was later inaugurated by the United Nations on June 21 as International Yoga Day.
This year, International Yoga Day 2022 carries the theme "Yoga for Humanity", meaning Yoga for humanity. The goal is to make people aware of the importance of maintaining health with yoga.
The existence of the COVID pandemic requires everyone to be more concerned about health, both physical and mental health. Therefore, sports such as yoga in this pandemic situation can overcome physical and mental health problems
Some of the countries that celebrate International Yoga Day include:
1. India
The celebration of the 8th International Yoga Day in India coincides with the 75th year of Indian Independence. Minister of Health and Family Welfare Mr. Mandaviya says yoga embodies the unity of mind and body, and mind and action. This is an invaluable holistic approach to health and well-being, in a park on International Yoga Day in Ahmedabad
2. Indonesia
The 8th International Yoga Day in Indonesia is celebrated in 3 big cities, namely Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Bali. Yoga celebrations in Jakarta were held by the Indian Embassy in the courtyard of the National Monument or Monas, while in Yogyakarta it was held at the Prambanan temple tourism park, and in Bali, hundreds of people attended the Niti Mandala Renon field.
3. Nepali
Nepal is one of the countries that supports India's proposal to make Yoga an international holiday, today 21 June celebrates the International Day of Yoga from Kathmandu
4. English
International Yoga Day in the UK is celebrated by members of the Wild Sea Women taking a Wild Kundalilini class in Seburn, England at sunrise.
5. Mexico
