A federal grand jury has indicted former President Trump for his alleged mishandling of 100+ documents. Some of these documents were top secret, containing information regarding defense and weapons capabilities with regards to the United States and its allies. There is also evidence that President Trump shared these documents with others.
President Trump is facing 7 charges, with 37 counts; which include false statements, conspiracy to obstruct and willful retention of national defense information. The former presidents personal aid, Walt Nauta, was also indicted on 6 counts, including false statements and conspiracy to obstruct.
President Trump is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday, June 13th 2023.
