Increasing Covid Cases In Shanghai, Making Its Citizens Cry For Food And Amenities

Amid COVID splurge a strict lockdown has been imposed in the city of Shanghai making its citizens deprive of food, medicines and other amenities.

A city, whose streets were once full of cheer and joy have now been replaced by dispirited voices longing for food, medicines and other amenities as the country battles a huge COVID splurge. From the past few weeks China has been experiencing the worst wave of COVID since its introduction in 2019. The country is encountering lakhs of COVID positive cases on a daily basis with Shanghai toping amongst its cities with approximately 26,000 cases of the virus.

This COVID wave has sent the city in a strict lockdown creating a situation of house arrest for its citizens. The 25 million resident inhabited city echoes of cries and voices full of desperation, frustration and seeking help. The inhumane measure has ripped off the people of food, water, medicines and what not. Several videos are going viral where the heart-pounding screams can be heard out loud from the windows and balconies demanding basic essentials for living. A trend started by few has picked up its pace as people are coming in support of the motion and are taking part in the protest from their houses, evidences of which is flooding into social media.

In response to the above the Chinese authorities flew drones around the city announcing, “Please comply with COVID restrictions. Control your soul’s desire for freedom. Do not open window or sing.”

Various reports have come up mentioning alleged incidents of pets being driven apart from their owner, those who have tested positive and being sent to be put down. Analyzing the trend various other Chinese cities are prepping beforehand in case a lockdown is implemented by stocking up dried food packages such as rice, pasta as well as toiletries and other basic essentials. A number of people took to Instagram and other social platforms sharing a guide of Dos and Don’ts and various other recommendations.

The situation is getting worse by minute as it is being reported by the locals that allegedly the government is asking its citizens to eat “One Meal A Day” in order for the former to sustain the resources for the country. With daily rise in positive cases the city is divided into three phases where people residing in the “precautionary Zone” will be able to move in and out with essential businesses being allowed to work.
