Madeleine McCann Suspect In Court On Unrelated Charges

The primary suspect in the Madeleine McCann case has appeared in a German court on unrelated sexual crime allegations.

Christian B, whose surname has been kept owing to privacy restrictions, is on trial for two charges of rape and three counts of sexual abuse.

The suspected crimes occurred in Portugal between 2000 and 2017.

The prisoner was shackled, and the start was delayed owing to a lengthy line to enter the courtroom.

Christian B's claimed victims in the case included a pensioner and a 10-year-old, and no accusations were brought against Madeleine McCann.

The 47-year-old is already in prison for raping a 72-year-old in Praia da Luz, Portugal, where Madeleine went missing.

Christian B has not been prosecuted in the McCann case, although he is suspected of murdering her.

Madeleine was three years old when she vanished while on vacation in Praia da Luz in May 2007.Christian B's counsel protested to one of the two lay judges shortly after the court session started on Friday.

They said the judge's posts on X included demands for the killing of former Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro, with one purportedly reading, "Kill the bastard."

Christian B's attorneys claimed that it meant her judgement was damaged and she would be unable to uphold the rule of law and rights of humanity.

The court was delayed up until February 23rd in response to the motion to remove the judge.
