The world has begun to shift once again however this time it has finally shift its attention to South Africa. Just recently President Cyril Ramaphosa was invited to the white house in Washington DC, America to speak with US President Joe Biden about the increasing issues arising due to the war in Ukraine.
The dailymaverick makes assumptions on the discussions between President Ramaphosa and President Biden to be about trade relations, climate, energy and how to deal with Russia.
However due to the death of Her Royal Majesty Queen Elizabeth II their meeting was cut short, President Ramaphosa headed to London to attend the state funeral and has been there ever since due to the constant impact of load shedding south Africa making it difficult for international travel for President Ramaphosa.
On Monday 3 October 2022 President Ramaphosa and his spouse were invited to attend a state visit to Buckingham Palace by UK's foreign office to be guests of His Royal Majesty King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla from 22 to 24 November 2022.
The Business Insider makes claims that South Africa is key in future development of the Commonwealth this can possibly true since President Ramaphose will be the first state visitor since HRM King Charles was publicly recognized as King of England. Another reason South Africa is being now part of the public eye is due to its controversial non-aligned position on Russia’s war against Ukraine.
The British High Commissioner, Antony Phillipson stated the visit of President Ramaphosa “reflects the importance of the relationship with South Africa. The visit will offer a chance to celebrate our modern-day partnerships delivering prosperity and security for both countries, as well as to set out how we can work together bilaterally and globally to strengthen those links for the future.”
With South Africa’s growing unemployment rate and loadshedding most South Africans believe that the president will meet with King Charles to address these issues the most. According to spokesperson Clayton Monyela in the Department of International Relations and Cooperation (Dirco) in IOLnews stated that the invitation from the royal palace confirms that South Africa is regarded as an
“Important and influential voice in regional and global affairs. In addition to bilateral matters, President Cyril Ramaphosa will use this occasion to share (with the king) South Africa's perspectives on global developments. Having the honour of being invited and hosted by His Majesty King Charles III for his first state visit is a strong statement regarding the strategic nature of the relations between South Africa and the UK."
In all honesty most South Africans find it rather controversial that our ANC governmental party regards loadshedding to be of equal importance to unemployment which is currently at the bottom of the agenda when it comes to ANC’s plans to change South Africa for the better.
This became public knowledge when Statssa estimated that more than 3 million people are currently unemployed in South Africa, this with the fact that the homeless are not added to this number most people in south Africa thus find it odd how they do not qualify for the SASSA social relief grant which is meant for those whom are unemployed in south Africa yet at least an estimate of 10 000 people currently receive the grant since the updated conditions.
Which was why President Ramaphosa began the initiative to create job opportunities for the unemployed across the country but people discovered a flaw of which most people got into these jobs due to their gained experience, if not for the fact of they have a degree is seen as a controversy since more than have south Africans have the experience expected for their first job much less a degree to validate they job experience.
