The Fight against LGBT adoption rights!

The LGBT acronym is used for individuals that are either lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender. It has been in use since the 1990s. LGBT began to be exchanged for the term gay for the broader LGBT community during the beginning and mid-to-late 1980s.

The LGBT community is defined as a grouping of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, LGBT organizations, and sub-cultures, fall under a typical culture and social movements. They are known to generally celebrate pride, diversity, individuality, and sexuality.

LESBIAN

A woman who necessarily has an enduring physical, romantic, or emotional attraction to other women. Some lesbians may opt to identify as gay and are grouped under gay women.

GAY

The term describes individuals that have enduring physical, romantic, or emotional attractions to people of the identical/same sex. Sometimes lesbian is used as the preferred term for the feminine counterpart.

BISEXUAL

An individual who voluntarily forms enduring physical, romantic, or emotional attractions to identical/same-sex people and those of another gender, at the same time is considered to be bisexual. People experience this attraction in a number of ways and to certain degrees over their lifetime. Bisexual people needn’t have specific sexual experiences to be bisexual; of course, they need not have had any sexual experience in the slightest degree to be considered bisexual.

TRANSGENDER

An umbrella term for people whose personal identity and/or gender expression differs from what’s typically related to the sex they were assigned at birth. People under the transgender umbrella may describe themselves using one or more of a good style of terms— including transgender. Transgenders are generally known to align themselves with their individuality. Some might undergo surgery in addition. But not all transgender people can or will take those steps, however, a transgender’s identity isn’t dependent upon physical appearance or medical procedures.

LGBT ADOPTION

LGBT adoption is the adoption of kids by lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people. This is often a type of joint adoption by same-sex couples. Joint adoption by same-sex couples is legal in twenty-seven countries and several sub-national jurisdictions and dependent territories. Furthermore, some style of stepchild adoption is legal for same-sex couples in five countries.

Policy-makers usually don’t address the adoption rights of LGBT persons and judicial decisions often determine whether or not they can serve as parents either individually or as couples.

Opponents of LGBT adoption have argued that LGBT parenting affects children. Whereas scientific research shows that gay and lesbian parents are as fit and capable as heterosexual parents and their children are as psychologically healthy as those raised by heterosexual parents.

In India, people belonging to the LGBT community face many legal and social difficulties that are not experienced by others. The union cabinet had previously decided to prevent same-sex couples from adopting children in 2014.

This might have prevented the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender (LGBT) community from becoming adoptive parents as well. The cabinet decided while considering the amendments to the justice (Care and protection of children Act, 2000). However, the draft bill which talks about rehabilitation and adoption of children doesn't mention disallowing same-sex couples from adopting.

Couples that belong to this community (i.e. same-sex couples) often face uneven legal challenges in the event of adoption. While a person’s sexual orientation does not change their desire to boost a family.

Certain people argue that adoption fulfills the will to make a clan, thus it provides stable homes to a number of children who are left without parents, every year.

Although people challenging this notion, have argued that the traditional nuclear family - one that includes both man and a woman, is more ideal for raising a woman.
