The Resurgence of Taliban in Malala's hometown.

A Decade ago October 2012, a 15 year old school girl Malala Yousafzai on way to school was shot by Taliban militant group, due to her advocacy for girls education the issue provoked international outrage.

Since the fall of Kabul in the hands of Taliban, the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province is getting detrimental day by day. But this time, the Pashtun people are not naive to the threats to peace in their lands.

Thousands erupts in Swat, Khyber Pakhtoon Khawa province of Pakistan in an anti-terror rally. People have hit the streets after the series of terror incidents, particularly the school van attack. The school van attack that killed a driver and injured a 10-year-old girl, the incident has created unrest and an atmosphere of terror in beautiful swat valley, the Switzerland of Pakistan.

The locals have requested the Government to establish peace in the valley, considering the future of their children at stake, we can’t carry more coffins we just need peace. Unfortunately, the mainstream media and leading political parties are quiet on this issue and completely ignoring the demonstrations and rallies happening against this resurgence.

On the other hand, Despite several check posts in the area where a common citizen is stopped and subjected to search, insurgents, along with their weapons, roam freely from area to area. This sparks mistrust about security forces and Government policies and will to eradicate militancy from the region. In the past Swat was a stronghold for the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan TTP until the Pakistani military launched an operation against the group in 2009. Thousands were killed and the unrest displaced over 3 million people, the efforts and sacrifices of the locals and Pakistan Army have resulted in the peace of the Swat till August 2022.

In the past several months, the military has been negotiating with the TTP and Government officeholders from the region have been sent to Afghanistan to hold meetings with the Taliban leadership. Despite the ongoing peace talks and unannounced cease-fire, the attack on civilians and LEA personnel continued. While the Pakistan military and other law enforcement agencies claimed that they eliminated terrorism from the region and that the new wave of terrorism is caused by the terrorists entering from the other side of the porous Durand line.

Now the enemies of education are back in the hometown of Malala Yousafzai, It is important to mention here that unlike the past, when people were easily be fooled in the name of religion and shariah laws, now they are not in favour to accept any Islamic system introduced by the Taliban.
