It seems only the sky is the limit for the Midwest princess. Chappell Roan made history at the Lollapalooza festival. CNN reported that the 26-year-old may have gathered the largest daytime crowd during a set in the history of Lollapalooza. Although the exact number of people at Roan’s set is not specified, around 110,000 people attend the festival each day. Taking place at the heart of Chicago at Grant Park, Lollapalooza is one of the most famous music festivals in the world, with spinoffs in Brazil, France, Argentina, and more.

Roan was originally placed on a smaller stage at the festival, but due to an increased interest in her, she was moved to a larger stage. Lollapalooza posted a picture on their social media of the massive crowd with the caption “It’s Chappell’s world and we’re just living in it”. The singer didn’t save words to express her gratitude towards the fans and the festival. On Instagram and X account, she shared pictures of her performance with captions thanking the support. “Thank you thank you thank you 🩵🩷I will remember this forever”

This is not the first time Roan gathers a mass of people at her performances. During her set at the Bonnaroo Music Festival in Tennessee, the singer had to be moved to a larger stage due to the large number of attendees.

Chappell Roan released her debut album The Rise and Fall of The Midwest Princess in September 2023. As she describes it, the album celebrates her true self, her sexual identity, and her journey leaving her hometown in Missouri to pursue her dream career in sunny LA. The album was a slow-burn success. With some songs trending on TikTok, a huge boom came after the release of Good Luck, Babe! In April 2024. By June 2024, her single and album had reached the Billboard charts.

Roan has been all around this year. She began as the opener for Olivia Rodrigo’s Gut. After the release of Good Luck, Babe! Roan played at Boston Calling, Hinterland, Osheaga, Coachella, Gov’s Ball, and more. Roan’s performances, wardrobe, and makeup are deeply influenced by the drag culture. In her song Pink Pony Club, she sings about her experience at The Abbey, a queer restaurant and club that changed her trajectory as an artist.

The Midwest Princess has been praised by many other artists and in her post about her Lollapalooza performance, Lorde, Katy Perry, Sza, Carly Rae Jepsen, and other musicians commented sharing words of love and support.

Chappel Roan is heading to Europe next with her tour, with stops in London, Manchester, Glasglow, Dublin, and more. She will also be marking her presence at the All Things Go Festival in New York, and the Austin City Limits Music Festival.
