The highly anticipated web series Barzakh, which stars one of the most adored on-screen pairs, Sanam Saeed and Fawad Khan, is all set to release next month. The series will premiere on July 19. It will be available on ZEE5 and Zindagis official YouTube channel.

Written and directed by Asim Abbasi, Barzakh delves into various themes such as postpartum, mental health, gender inclusivity, and generational trauma. These intricate themes are woven to form a gripping narrative that challenges societal conventions. It tells the story of a 76-year-old widower who invites his estranged children and grandkids to his isolated valley resort for an unprecedented occasion — his wedding to the ghost of his first true love — set against the stunning background of the Hunza Valley. The series promises the viewers to ponder the mysteries of life, the afterlife, and the securing power of love by this intensely moving tale.

Asim Abbasi is well-known for his successful series, Churails, which also aired on Zee Zindagi. He has also directed the critically acclaimed film Cake, Pakistans official Oscar submission in 2018.

Every storyteller hopes to have times like these in their career when they can let their imaginations run wild. Director Asim Abbasi said, Barzakh is just me running wild through a forest of fear, hope, and magic — to create something a little bit spiritual and a whole lot of trippy.

Zindagi took to their social media handle to share the posters of the upcoming series, all set to premiere on July 19.

Fans are elated to see Sanam-Fawad together after 12 long years. The duo last appeared in Zindagi Gulzar Hai, a cult classic and one of the most loved Pakistani dramas.

Alongside Sanam and Fawad, the star-studded cast includes Salman Shahid, M. Fawad Khan, Eman Suleman, Kushal Khan, Faiza Gillani, Anika Zulfikar, and Fransco Giusti, among others. Waqas Hassan and Shailja Kejriwal produced it. Mo Azmi did the cinematography.

While the director hopes that the six-episode series captivate and enchant people, he also wishes that Barzakh alters a tiny portion of their hearts in an unexpected way.
