The highly anticipated anime series, ‘Kaiju no 8,’ has released a trailer and have broadcasted information during the Jump Festa 2024.
‘Kaiju no 8‘, made by Naoya Matsumoto, is revolutionising anime, and is making history by releasing full episodes on X (a platform formerly known as Twitter).
It is about a man working a job far removed from his childhood dreams and becomes a monster. He aims once again to fulfil his lifelong dream even as a monster. In Japan, monsters known as kaiju regularly attack the populace with the Japanese Defence Force tasked with killing them.
The anime will air on TV Tokyo and be available for streaming on Crunchyroll. Additionally, the series will be simultaneously available worldwide on X, a unique way of streaming.
This marks the first time an anime series is releasing full episodes on a social media platform, none the less X. This coincides with its Japanese broadcast.
However, a similar strategy had undergone and seen with Apple TV’s ‘Silo,’ which streamed its first episode for free on X in June 2023, garnering an amazing response.
The anime, directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya, will have a series composition and screenplay by Ichiro Okouchi. Tetsuya Nishio will handle character design and chief animation direction, while Mahiro Maeda will design the kaiju.
The music will be composed by Yuta Bandoh, and the kaiju design and works will be done by Studio khara. The animation production will be handled by Production I.G.
Kaiju no. 8 is also one of the most popular manga on Shonen Jump Plus, with over 50 million views as of December 2023.
Viz Media, an American entertainment company, headquartered in San Francisco, California, focused on publishing manga, and distribution and licensing Japanese anime, films, and television series has also described the series as follows:
Kafka hopes to one day keep his pact with his childhood friend Mina to join the Japan Defence Force and fight by her side. But while she’s out neutralizing kaiju as Third Division captain, Kafka is stuck cleaning up the aftermath of her battles. When a sudden rule change makes Kafka eligible for the Defence Force, he decides to try out for the squad once more. There’s just one problem—he’s made the Defence Force’s neutralization list under the code name Kaiju No. 8.
