Kalki 2898 AD," a highly anticipated sci-fi movie directed by Nag Ashwin, is set to captivate audiences with its star-studded cast, including Prabhas, Deepika Padukone, Amitabh Bachchan, Kamal Haasan, and Disha Patani. The film is scheduled to hit screens on May 9, 2024, as announced by Vyjayanthi Movies, the production company behind the project.

Vyjayanthi Movies, currently celebrating its 50th year, has acknowledged the profound significance of May 9 on its illustrious cinematic journey. C. Ashwini Dutt, the esteemed founder and producer of Vyjayanthi Movies, has emphasized the historical relevance of this particular date for the production company, citing the remarkable triumphs achieved in the past, such as 'Jagadeka Veerudu Athiloka Sundari,' 'Mahanati,' and 'Maharshi.' With the much-anticipated release of the highly-anticipated film 'Kalki 2898 AD,' which boasts an exceptional ensemble cast, the date garners an even more extraordinary value as it coincides with the remarkable milestone of Vyjayanthi Movies reaching its 50-year mark.

Prabhas, one of the lead actors in the film, shared the release date announcement poster on social media, signaling the beginning of the countdown to the future. In his caption, he wrote, "The countdown to the future has begun! #Kalki2898AD in theatres worldwide on 9th May 2024."

Recently, Nag Ashwin opened up about Kalki 2898 AD at an event at IIT Bombay. The director said, “In India, we do not have a lot of sci-fi films. We have done a few time travel films. This one is different because it’s in a whole separate world on its own. Also, in the international sense, it is new because we have not seen India in a future setting or dystopian setting. So now we don’t have to look at London and New York being born, now we can see our cities also.”

He added, “This movie took place in the cusp between before and after Midjourney and before and after Chat GPT. First two years, we did a lot of work and then we realized a lot of work became easier after this text-to-image and image-to-text generator happened.”
