For the most recent episode of Meghan Markle's podcast ‘Archetypes’, Deepika Padukone served as a guest. Constance Wu and Jenny Slate were also guests on the episode and provided their input as the actress talked at length about the stigma associated with mental health and her personal battle with depression. The Duchess of Sussex revealed the "lowest moment" of her life during the interview and discussed how her husband, Prince Harry, assisted her in overcoming it.
She explained to Deepika how Harry assisted her in connecting with a mental health expert during a trying time in her life. "When I was at my lowest, I guess, my husband found a reference for me to contact, and I was ultimately placed in touch with that individual."
She said that it was likely the woman was at a grocery store checkout when the Duchess called. “You could actually hear the small "beep, beep" when I said, "Hello," and I'm introducing myself. I'm sorry, but you must go. “Just asking, who is this?” I stated I needed assistance"- Meghan recounted the time she made the call to the mental health professional.
"She also heard how miserable I was feeling… I believe it is important for every one of us to be really honest about our needs and not be frightened to accept them and ask for them. The most enlightening thing about you, in my opinion, is that you're open to discussing it "She told Deepika.
In an open, startling interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2021-nearly, a year after she and Prince Harry retired as senior working royals and relocated to America-Meghan Markle had also previously discussed her struggle with mental illness.
Deepika Padukone discussed the support her family provided while she dealt with her mental health difficulties. She praised her mother for seeing the signs and caring for her when she was most vulnerable.
