Rihanna performed for the Ambani family in Jamnagar, India for a three day celebration. The 36-year-old performed for forty minutes as part of the pre-wedding celebrations. Many fans on social media are saying that excluding the Super Bowl, this is her first big show in almost eight years.
Rihanna performed for Mukesh Ambani’s youngest son Anant Ambani. Anant Ambani is engaged to Radhika Merchant, and their wedding is set to be held in July. Rihanna wore only one outfit during the performance which was a green custom-made gown by the Indian designer, Manish Malhotra. Rihanna was said to have been paid around £5 million for the forty-minute performance where she sang many of her greatest hits.
The event was said to have been so big that the local airport was granted “international status”, allowing for the entry of large numbers of celebrities and business tycoons who were making the trip to the pre-wedding celebrations. Some of the famous people who were in attendance of this event were Janhvi Kapoor with her rumoured boyfriend Shikhar Pahariya, Vicky Kaushal, Shahid Kapoor, Bill Gates, and Mark Zuckerberg.
The three-day event was said to have included five hundred dishes made by around one hundred chefs, where guests could choose from a variety of dishes. Around 130 flights arrived at the local airport for the event. This shows how flamboyant and prestigious this event was.
Most of the guests were reported to stay in luxury “glamping” tents, and pictures of the luxurious tents were posted to social media. The luxury tents had a living-room-style layout with two sofas, and the bedroom inside was separated by a curtain but had a bed, a huge television, as well as a bedside table.
Mukesh Ambani, the father of soon-to-be-married Anant Ambani, is the richest man in Asia with a net worth of around $117 billion. Ambani runs and chairs $110 billion (revenue) Reliance Industries, according to Forbes. Reliance Industries has interests in oil, gas, retail, telecom, financial services, and petrochemicals. Reliance’s telecom and broadband service ‘Jio’ has around 450 million subscribers. Mukesh Ambani is changing the direction of Reliance towards green energy and the company will be investing around $80 billion over the next decade or so in renewable energy.
Mukesh Ambani’s children joined the board of Reliance Industries in August 2023, and they have all taken a sector each. Akash Ambani leads Jio, Isha Ambani heads retail and financial services, and groom-to-be Anant Ambani is in the business of energy.
Having Rihanna perform at the pre-wedding celebrations is not unusual for the Ambani family. In 2018, Beyonce performed at their daughter, Isha Ambani’s pre-wedding celebrations, performing hits such as Run The World. Isha Ambani married her childhood friend, Anand Piramal.
