Nobel Prize in Medicine Awarded to Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman

The Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden, has today awarded the Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine to Katalin Karikó and Drew Weissman for the mRNA-based COVID vaccine. Hungarian biochemist Katalin Karikó spent 40 years working in the shadows, making key advances for the Moderna and BioNTech vaccines. Drew Weissman collaborated with Karikó, making mRNA therapies possible.
