We are living in a world where women face discrimination in almost every field just because of their gender. Women who work are paid less than their male counterparts. It is downright unfair and sexist to pay someone less for the identical work because of their gender. That’s why we can say women's empowerment is the need of the hour. We should encourage women and let them speak up for themselves. From homemakers to working professionals, women now have an independent outlook. They are now empowered to make decisions about the majority of their life aspects and carrier choices, this comes with the gradual increase in the number of working women. Financial independence has now given them the boldness to steer their own lives and build their own identities. Women are successfully taking up diverse professions to prove that they are not less than any man. When it comes to making a balance between professional and personal life, a woman as a mother, daughter, sister or wife is handling things with great ease. Women are constantly proving themselves, when given equal opportunities they are giving tough competition to men. Women empowerment is now not just limited to the developed areas but even in rural areas, many women have started raising their voices so that they can be heard loud in the world. Irrespective of their socio-economic backgrounds women are now enjoying their social and political rights. In my opinion, women are already empowered they just need the right opportunity to make people understand that they can work equally as men in every field. Women's Empowerment doesn't mean that women are better than men, but it states that they are equal to men. Let's get into the meaning, importance, and needs of women's empowerment.

WHAT IS WOMEN EMPOWERMENT?

Women empowerment refers to a process related to enhancing women's control over financial, human, and intellectual resources in society. In any nation, women's empowerment can be observed by the extent of their involvement in social, economic, and political fields. Women are considered fully empowered when all the factors such as their self-worth, their right to manage their own lives, their ability to bring about social change, are addressed simultaneously. Women empowerment brings the power in women to follow their own choices related to their life and work. It gives them equal rights in every field such as personal, social, economic, and political.

IMPORTANCE OF WOMEN EMPOWERMENT

Women empowerment adds to the confidence of ladies in their ability to guide meaningful and purposeful lives. It makes them Independent i.e., they can live their lives on their own terms freely and it also adds to their self-esteem and gives them a definite identity. Financial independence is now helping them to fulfill their needs and desires on their own. They are now making adequate contributions to the well-being of society and are now gaining a lot of respect for the same.

NEED OF WOMEN’S EMPOWERMENT

Without women’s empowerment, it is not possible to remove injustice, inequality, and gender biases. If women are not empowered, they will not be able to enjoy security and protection in life. It also provides them a secure working environment. Empowerment acts as a strong tool against the exploitation and harassment that most women face. It is an excellent means to urge adequate legal protection for ladies. If not socially and economically empowered, women cannot develop their own identities. If women aren’t employed, the global economy is going to be adversely affected as women constitute an unlimited chunk of the world’s population. Women are very creative and smart which makes it wonderful to receive their contributions in socio-economic activities. For a progressive society, women need to be given equal work opportunities. Women from everywhere are rebellious to realize the status they need today. While western countries are still making progress. Third-world countries like India still lag in Women's Empowerment. In India, women's empowerment is required. India is amongst the countries which don’t seem to be safe for women. There are various reasons for this. Firstly, Indian women are in peril of honor killings. Their family thinks it's right to take their lives if they convey shame to the reputation of their legacy. Moreover, the education and freedom scenario is incredibly regressive here. Women are not allowed to pursue studies, they are married off at very early stages in their lives. Patriarchy still exists in some regions of society. Women are not allowed to go out. Additionally, violence against women is still a serious problem in India. The sad truth is women are objectified to date and thus they are afraid to speak up.

HOW TO EMPOWER WOMEN?

As mentioned, empowering women is very important for the social development of the countries. Male Individuals and the government both must focus on this goal. Education for girls should be made compulsory, women should get equal opportunities in every field, irrespective of their gender, they should be paid equally, Strict laws and punishments should be laid against child marriage. Various programs should be held which can spread awareness about how education is very important, how financial independence can help them take their own stand and be the flag bearer of change in this society. Most significantly, the shame of divorce and abuse must be thrown out of the window. Many women stay in abusive relationships just because of the fear of society. Parents must teach their daughters it is okay to return home divorced rather than in an exceeding coffin.

Conclusion: Women's Empowerment helps to create the globe an improved place to live in. It leads to increase happiness in an individual family and also has a direct impact on the growth of our society. Let’s hope and aim towards women's empowerment reaching not just the developed but the rural areas of our country as well.
