Neuralink, the company founded by entrepreneur, and CEO of Tesla and Twitter, Elon Musk, has been making headlines with its plans to develop an implantable brain technology for humans. The company has announced that it will begin the use of human subjects for its experiments. However, will they be able to?
In early 2022, the company suffered a major setback as the U.S. Food and Drug Administration rejected the application for Neuralink to start human trials. However, Neuralink currently continues to reach out to major U.S. neurosurgery centres while also continuing to test on animals such as pigs and monkeys.
