Gakpo signs for Arch Rivals

Manchester United has lost three attackers in the 2022/2023 season — Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani and Mason Greenwood. Now, the deal with Cody Gakpo is being bottled by Manchester United's archrivals, Liverpool. Just fourteen hours before the deal had been sealed and announced, Fabrizio Romano had said that “Cody Gakpo hasn't changed his mind on going to Manchester United. He was keen on joining last summer and this is still the case, discussions with his agents have always been positive." It’s up to Man United now to decide internally about the €55/60m deal.

The Glazer rule on the club has reduced the amount of spending that the board is allowing Erik Ten Hag to do. According to Simon Jones, Manchester United has been reduced to shopping in the loan market this January as the Glazers look to sell the club. Manchester United is noted for many loan moves that have occurred with the dealings of past managers. It strongly seems as though they have not done away with loan moves just yet.

According to Howardnurse, Manchester United's scouting department has never been convinced about Cody Gakpo's level of development at this current time. Despite the Manchester United board stating the ruins about Gakpo, Lauriewhitwell had publicly said that Gakpo has enjoyed a good world cup and Erik Ten Hag's liking for him has remained.

The Manchester United scouting department staff are aligned in their thinking. The Manchester United Board is currently stating that Cody Gakpo was never seen as an important target to the club or the manager. The Manchester United fans are currently ranting about the incompetence of the board. The Manchester United Board is seen as being very incompetent as per last night and early parts of the morning when the news first leaked.

The Manchester United fanbase has been blasting out rants all over Social media at the incompetence of their board. The Liverpool Board’s ambition has cost Manchester United Cody Gakpo. The members of the Manchester United Board are slow in their dealings, and they have lost a player that was opting a move to Manchester United, who had also liked the manager Erik Ten Hag.

According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United has the green light from Cody Gakpo, but they have not put in the bid of €37 million to sign him. However, Liverpool has bid €37 million and has also placed in guaranteed add-ons. Erik Ten Hag has responded to Gakpo moving to Manchester United.

According to the United Plug, the manager came out and stated “we have lost a striker so we need to get a striker in, but it has to be the right one who brings quality into the team, not just adding to the squad. That only causes problems.” The onboarding criteria is high at Manchester United.

Cody Gakpo has scored fifty five goals and has a record of fifty assists in hundred and fifty nine  senior appearances at PSV, which includes thirteen goals and seventeen assists in twenty four games this season. In the 2022 World Cup season, Cody Gakpo played five matches. Manchester United had three shots on target, with each shot scoring a successful goal. Cody Gakpo had averaged twenty four passes per match with a pass completion rate of seventy six percent and made zero assists. He received no yellow cards or red cards. The average player rating of Cody Gakpo in the 2022 World Cup season was six point eighty eight.

Erik Ten Hag had stated that "I think when we get players available and with better fitness in the frontline, then already we will score more goals. When I analyse the first fourteen games and Europe, so twenty  games, we have a lot of problems in the frontline. And often, I had nothing to choose or players were not an hundred percent fit.

Manchester United is currently left with two players as attackers for their team. With Jadon Sancho not playing his best as of late, United is now left with Anthony Elanga on the front.
